"I was pleased to vote in favour of the Report on the 2013 discharge in respect of the implementation of the budget of the European Union agencies in the areas of performance, financial management and control. As Rapporteur for the Opinion of the Employment and Social Affairs Committee I was pleased to see the Rapporteur took the opinion into account in his final report. The work of the various agencies is important for informing the work of both the Commission and Parliament through supporting Union policies and providing independent analysis to institutions on issues vital to citizens. It is also positive that agencies are trying to streamline collaboration where possible by exchanging information, knowledge and best practices with the support of an online communication tool. However it is important the agencies work towards better communication and dissemination of their work to citizens and in this regard I welcome the initiative of some of the agencies to introduce public consultations on some of their policies."@en1
