lpv:spoken text	"I supported this strategy because it identifies many of the key principles needed to strengthen sustainable forest management. It also looks at job-creation potential of the forestry sector as well as the opportunities to improve competitiveness. Forests have a multifunctional role and in the report we call for better coordination by EU bodies, a review of the effectiveness of the Timber Directive, active forest management and the sustainable resource-efficient use of timber. Given the different types of forest and forest ownership across the EU, practical management of forests has to be left up to the individual Member States while taking the forest strategy into account."@en1
