"I voted in favour of the Report. The macro-financial assistance system, given to politically, economically and socially close partners of the EU, and only those which are under the IMF disbursement programme, has seen countries such as Ukraine, Georgia and Armenia benefit from these loans and grants, enabling them to stabilise and continue their economic and fiscal reforms.
These countries are our close partner countries in need of an urgent financial assistance and we have to take into consideration geo-political, strategic, but at the same time mutual, benefits the EU and these countries have from this type of financial and policy cooperation. Our position in the world is to lead and to assure our partners that we will be there to assist them when in need and support them in their path towards economic and structural reforms which complement the EU’s political and economic norms and values."@en1
