lpv:spoken text	"This report related to the waiver of parliamentary immunity of António Marinho e Pinto, who is a Portuguese MEP. By waiving an immunity defence, Parliament does not formulate any opinion on the probability of guilt or not of the MEP in question. It only looks at applying the rules on immunity (Rule 7 of its Rules of Procedure and Protocol No 7 to the TFEU) to these cases. When it finds that defamatory statements are made that have no direct and obvious connection to the performance of their duties as an MEP, then it decides to waive immunity, so that court proceedings in the national Member State can be brought or continue. On this basis, I voted in favour of this report."@en1
