"Mr Lewer, I understand, asked a very clear question about the Commission’s attitude to the concerns of many digital micro-entrepreneurs who have had these EU VAT rules imposed on them. I know Mr Verhofstadt and his group have also shared that concern, so this is not really a party political issue. Let us be quite clear about that. I have had some very good meetings with the Commission. It is probably no secret that Mr Timmermans and I had dinner the other night and we discussed this issue ... It clearly was a secret, Mr Timmermans. I have now completely reduced your credibility in this Parliament – I have ruined your career! Mr Juncker did not have dinner with me, otherwise that would have been the end of his career as well. Despite the constructive meetings I have had with various people in the Commission, however, I have to say I was a little disappointed by what I considered cheap and shoddy tweets from members of Mr Juncker’s team, and also someone calling themselves the press officer for EU better regulation. This morning there was a cross-party breakfast with MEPs from a number of different groups sitting down with these entrepreneurs, and they were disappointed with the tweets coming out of the Commission. My plea to you, Mr Juncker, is please talk to those ..."@en1
