"Mr President, this is a topic which is very important for my country, particularly because we have been ahead of the curve in our efforts to conserve stocks of sea bass. Everybody knows that without conservation methods, without proper scientific up-to-date information, one cannot have a sustainable fishing industry, and we certainly have done an awful lot in this area in the last 20 years, where commercial landing of sea bass was not allowed and for leisure purposes it has been very limited. For that reason we would not have a track record and, if the TACs were to come in, it could actually discriminate against a country like Ireland, which has done so much in this area, when things are beginning to come right. That is the point I want to make on behalf of the fishing community of my country. I hope it will be taken into consideration when this comes to be implemented under the CFP."@en1
