"Mr President, I too supported this report because it makes a strong call for the European Union to shift its policies towards growth-led policies which focus on creation of quality jobs. It also highlights a number of key points such as the need to have refocusing of policies to achieve the 2020 targets, the fight against inequality, the need to move away from jobless growth, combating youth unemployment, giving SMEs adequate tools to operate voluntary mobility, and shifting taxation from labour to capital.
This report mentions introduction of a minimum income scheme throughout the EU and stresses that the employment and social considerations in the European Semester should be put on a par with macroeconomic ones. I believe that the employment and social aspects of the European Semester and Annual Growth Survey are fundamental in order to put Europe back on its track."@en1
