"I voted for this report which expresses concern at the lack of any significant progress in fighting high-level corruption and organised crime, a significant obstacle in the way of Kosovo’s democratic, social and economic development. It stresses the need for a clear signal from the government that Kosovo is systematically tackling corruption at all levels and fighting organised crime and calls for further steps to prevent any possible link between organised crime and people within the public administration. It is also concerned about widespread illegal ownership of firearms and calls on the Kosovar Government to initiate programmes to collect such firearms. It calls on Kosovo to cooperate with the EU expert group on arms trafficking and with neighbouring countries in taking preventive action, and calls for the EU to provide every form of technical assistance required for that purpose."@en1
