"The report concerns payments called multilateral interchange fees or MIFs, which are charges during transactions between the merchantʼs and the buyer’s banks. It sets maximum fee levels for transactions with payment cards that are used by consumers at 0.2 per cent for debit card transactions and 0.3 per cent for credit card transactions. For domestic transactions Member States can define a per transaction cap fee of less than 0.2 per cent or apply a per transaction fee of no more than 0.05 EUR/equivalent. There are also transparency measures for retailers and consumers to make more informed decisions about possible charges. Commercial cards are excluded from the scope as are payment cards issued by three party payment schemes. Reducing charges for using your card abroad is something I support."@en1
