"I do apologise, I got a bit emotional and forgot I just had two minutes. The question of numbers is a really pertinent question, because the issue is that the numbers we get are secondary sources, and I think we just cannot tell who is dying. These are coming from the agencies, but many of them are coming from the Italian coastguard itself.
I think the pertinent issue is that we are not getting the numbers of people who are actually dying, and there are thousands of people dying who we never hear of in the Mediterranean. His Holiness alluded to this in his speech to the Chamber.
So people should focus on those who we never hear of who die unknown, and I think this is the real tragedy of the Mediterranean."@en1
