"The accession to the Hague Convention on Child Abduction in principle is acceptable, and the extension of these international rules to Singapore is to be welcomed. There remains a slight concern that Singapore will need further assessment in order to confirm their full compliance with their obligations; however, this has been raised by the Member States in the Council. As the European Parliament does not have a formal role in this process and is only being asked for consent and as the measure is positive in extending the reach of an international standard in difficult situations, I can support this vote."@en1
