"I am aware the Duda report in itself concerns a merely technical matter, but I wanted to grasp this opportunity to raise an issue of great concern, which is the fact that Member States have not so far been able to agree on new EU powers to fight dumping. This means that up until this day we have dumping legislation that has not been revised since 1995 and does not take into account current-day social and environmental concerns. It also means we do not have new powers to fight unfair Chinese exports, which are pushing EU companies out of the market by literally dumping cheap products on our markets. It is an issue that is of great concern to my country, and in particular to my region of the West Midlands where ceramic companies are struggling because of dumped imports of ceramic table and kitchenware from China; and it is a bitter fact that the UK Government has not been standing behind these companies in the debate on this at EU level."@en1
