I must say that the Commission is going to be judged on the success of its plans, and there are three particularly strong areas. One: cutting red tape. Two: less legislation, particularly at the European level, that can best be done at national or local level under subsidiarity. Three: the investment plan. President Juncker and the Commission never said they were going to invest over EUR 300 billion themselves. It is all predicated on being able to leverage private investment. Some people are sceptical, some are not, but I think it behoves us all to try and give as much support as we can to try and make this happen so that Europe can become more competitive and we can get back to jobs and growth and a better quality of life for everybody."@en1
