But recent events, and the erosion of civil liberties and human rights, have led to a decline in the tourist industry. In the light of recent human rights abuses, I support the principle of this motion although I am unable to vote for it as a UKIP MEP because of the nature of the requests for Commission action – which has proved to be counterproductive in the past. Consequently, I felt that I had no choice but to abstain."@en1
