"The EU should be prepared to provide a strong and decisive answer to the Ukrainian crisis resulting from Russia’s waged aggression and occupation. It does a lot, but it is still not enough. We often do too little, too late, and in a shy manner. We are hiding behind the OSCE, the UN, the Red Cross, and some Member States. We are not calling things for what they are – war as war and terror as terror. By contributing to security in Ukraine, the EU is providing security for itself. Only determined and united EU and Ukraine actions and Russia’s return to the path of respect of the rights of its neighbours and of international law can offer a solution to the Ukrainian crisis. Russian terrorism on Ukrainian territory should be fought with the same determination as any other form of terrorism, like for example Islamic fundamentalism.
At the same time, we should not close our communication channels with Russia, bearing in mind that diplomatic solutions should be sought to resolve the conflict. We therefore support meetings in Geneva or Normandy formats if tangible results can be achieved"@en1
