"I was pleased to vote with my Group on all the amendments and, obviously, on the resolution here today. I think it is laudable what we have done in the European Parliament in the past few months in helping Ukraine, a country which is trying to move forward both democratically and also in economic terms. We have moved speedily and that is good.
One thing I must say is that I was taken aback at the last part-session here in Strasbourg when one MEP suggested that by passing resolutions on Ukraine we were heckling or goading, or almost insulting, Russia. This is an absolute farce. Ukraine is an independent country, and it is no business of Russia or China or the USA or any other country what we do to help them. I hope we will continue to help them because they deserve it and we have resources that they may not have."@en1
