"Mr President, in this debate we have seen attacks on the extreme right – and rightly so. We must indeed oppose those extremes, just as we must oppose the extreme left. In the United Kingdom we in UKIP have proved that a moderate party which seeks controlled immigration – managed migration, not uncontrolled immigration – has been able to kill off the extreme right, the racism and xenophobia of the BNP.
But here in this place, commitment to democracy is lacking. I note, for example, Juncker’s comments about Greece, telling Greece to avoid the ‘wrong outcome’ in its general election. Those are unacceptable. The only crime of Syriza is to oppose austerity, and it is right to do so. It is entitled to do so. Such interference in Member States is not acceptable. Democracy must come before politics, but in this debate I have seen lip service only paid to democracy."@en1
