"Madam President, I voted against the Association Agreement with Georgia. The EU empire-building and meddling in the former Soviet Union has triggered the crisis in the Ukraine. Not content with this, the EU is meddling in Georgia with this Association Agreement. Georgia, as recently as 2008, was at war with Russia. UKIP feels that the EU is stoking the flame of conflict yet again. With the fall of oil prices, and consequently the rouble, Russia and its leadership are in a fragile state of mind so it is extremely unwise to provoke Mr Putin who, despite his economic reverses, has more tank divisions than the European Union which has exactly none. Baroness Ashton, a dangerous amateur EU Foreign Minister, or alleged Foreign Minister, wished to cast the shadow of war across Europe, and this was before the rouble fell. We do not want 1914 to be repeated in 2014 through EU empire-building. This is a very dangerous and foolish move to provoke the Russian bear."@en1
