"Mr President, in a letter from the Georgian Prime Minister this week Mr Garibashvili referred to our shared values. These shared values extend so much further than simply trade. I welcome the Association Agreement and the continuing positive relationship between Georgia and the EU, a relationship that aims to improve peopleʼs lives in both communities.
Through the wider cooperation framework of the Association Agreement we need to work together with the Georgian Government to develop its social model. The government is already doing great work to engage its citizens and civil society in the democratic process and in delivering social policy, a good example being the recent anti-discrimination law. It is only the Georgian Government that can ultimately deliver a deeper social model, but I look forward to working with them to provide the support needed to deliver on those shared values."@en1
