I recognise that the European steel industry is facing a significant structural crisis, coupled with weak demand and longstanding concern over energy prices. However, I cannot support this text as essentially it calls for reciprocity to apply for the steel import and export market as well as entering trade negotaitions with a view to introducing quantative restrictions. Closing our markets to others is not right the right approach to our long-term free trade and competition goals."@en¹
