"I welcome the fact that changes are to be made to ensure that the ludicrous situation where Member States are handed EU bills simply out of the blue cannot happen unchecked again.
The reality is that the United Kingdom pays far more into Europe than it gets out – both in financial and social terms. The reality is that no calculation of GNI, and no calculation of VAT, over any length of time, should mean that the UK taxpayer should give more money to Europe simply because the economy they are a part of is growing. This, however, is not something the bearers of this report realise – they want more, more, more.
Such a wanton disregard for the pressures facing household budgets strikes to the very heart of the increasing argument that fairness must be re-enacted within our relationship with the EU."@en1
