"I voted against the motion ‘On the draft Council decision on the conclusion of the Cooperation Agreement on a Civil Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) between the European Community and its Member States and the Kingdom of Morocco’.
The report states that the Kingdom of Morocco can join the European GNSS Agreement. The GNSS is incredibly expensive, currently securing EUR 6.3 billion under the MFF.
Further, the EU GNSS Agency says on its homepage that Galileo is only to be used for civilian purposes, but it states that law enforcement is a civil use. When you allow law enforcement to use the GNSS system, it is only a small step to ‘law enforcement agencies’ using the system to track civilians under the guise of law enforcement, like the NSA is using the Patriot Act to ‘protect the State’."@en1
