This helps to ensure a simple, predictable regulatory framework for businesses, workers and EU citizens. Regulation 178/2002 established the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) as the competent body to promote scientific cooperation with Member States and to replace the Scientific Committee on Food referred to in Directive 93/5/EEC. This now means Directive 93/5/EEC is obsolete and should be repealed."@en1
