"Mr President, this topic is somewhat related to the previous one about the 25th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The first thing anybody needs in life is to be able to eat enough, and particularly eat enough of the proper foods. As has been said, this is, unfortunately, not happening in many parts of the world and maybe also within the European Union. Nevertheless, I do not think the European Union deserves any criticism, because we have the record of being the biggest donor in development humanitarian aid in the world. At the same time, we can always improve, and certainly, where there are issues which are highlighted in this report, it is very important that we look at them and see how we can improve matters, particularly in helping these countries – third countries in particular – to do things better from the point of view of sustainable agriculture and general practices. So I think this was a good motion, and I was pleased to support it and vote with my group in all matters."@en1
