I was referring specifically to the promise made by the European Council in April 2004 to end the isolation of northern Cyprus. A month later, all that was pushed on one side and we have made little progress since. Every now and then we get a glimmer of hope. Every now and then something happens which makes us think ‘oh, maybe there is now progress’, but then obstacles are put up. We have got to get over that and we have to find a way ahead that respects the rights and concerns of all the communities in Cyprus."@en1
