"Last week I voted in favour of the new European Commission. Although the British Prime Minister David Cameron originally opposed Mr Juncker becoming the new President of the Commission, the UK is pleased with his commitments, hitherto, to work with Member States to ensure the EU focuses its efforts where it is best placed to do so. Avoiding needless bureaucracy and interference in areas best dealt with at home must be a cornerstone of a new, reformed EU. Given Mr Juncker’s commitments to better regulation and recognition of Member State subsidiarity, I was happy to support the election of the Commission, for the period 2014-2019."@en1
