"Fine Gael MEPs voted in favour of the Joint motion for a resolution on Israel-Palestine after the Gaza war and the role of the EU (), which was co-signed by five political groups, as it appropriately supports a lasting ceasefire in the region, condemns violations of human rights and international humanitarian law and supports efforts to provide additional humanitarian funding.
Fine Gael MEPs recognise that the blockade of Gaza must be ended and that unobstructed access to humanitarian aid must be allowed. We are categorical in condemning the disproportionate use of military force by Israel as well as the firing of rockets by Hamas and other militants into Israel.
We believe that all citizens, Palestinian or Israeli, have the right to live in peace and security and we encourage both sides to engage in genuine negotiations to end violence and ensure that a lasting ceasefire is instituted.
Written Explanation of vote signed by Brian Hayes, Seán Kelly, Mairead McGuinness and Deirdre Clune."@en1
