"Since 2007 the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund has supported workers who lost their jobs as a result of major structural changes in world trade patterns caused by globalisation. In the period 2014-2020 the scheme will be available for additional categories of beneficiaries. Not only employed workers made redundant can benefit from EGF projects but also the self-employed, temporary workers and fixed-term workers.
If redundancies occur in a region eligible under the Youth Employment Initiative, such as the West Midlands, a temporary derogation (until end-2017) will enable Member States to offer services to an equal number of young people not in employment, education or training (NEETs). The UK has never made an application under this fund. UK workers therefore receive none of this support."@en1
