"This report is the last in the series of introspective reports coming from the Committee on Constitutional Affairs ahead of the end of the Parliamentary term. The report purports to examine the way in which national parliaments can contribute to the European decision-making process, but much of the focus is instead placed on interparliamentary dialogue and the role of the Conference of Community and European Affairs. Conservatives tabled a series of amendments that would have addressed how to improve the functioning of the subsidiarity check. In addition, Conservative colleagues advocated several steps to strengthen this role, in particular by introducing an informal extension of the deadline when three reasoned opinions are issued. Regrettably, the amendments were not adopted, and for this reason I voted against the report."@en1
