lpv:spoken text	"I voted in favour of this report, which deals with the safety regulation and approval standards for equipment carried on board ships, and is based on conventions adopted by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). To provide a harmonised interpretation and implementation of the IMO approval standards for marine equipment across Member States and to ensure the free movement of equipment within the EU, a Directive on marine equipment was introduced in 1996, and this recast deals with certain weaknesses in the area of implementation and enforcement of the current Directive. Any concerns related to the number of delegated acts have been satisfied in the final agreement, as the scope for the Commission to act regarding technical specifications for marine equipment is now limited. Sufficient safeguards are in place to ensure that Member State experts are placed in the driving seat and that the Commission may only adopt delegated acts in exceptional circumstances."@en1
