lpv:spoken text	"This first-reading agreement revises the EU Solidarity Fund (EUSF) which was created in 2002 with the aim of enabling the EU to respond to major disasters inside the EU and in candidate countries. The purpose is to grant affected countries financial aid, where necessary, to help them bear the financial burden inflicted on them by natural disasters, provided certain criteria are met. Given the damage caused by recent climatic events to Welsh coastal areas, I am supportive of this revised fund. Experiences in Wales have highlighted the need for such an instrument provided it is run in an equitable and efficient manner. The revised regulation should making the instrument quicker to respond to disasters and simpler to use, with clearer provisions in place."@en1
