"Drawn up with a view to Parliament reviewing the MFF process and its outcome, this report seeks to put on the record Parliament’s version of events, drawing political and institutional lessons while serving as a basis for the preparation of future negotiations, in particular the mid-term review as foreseen in the MFF Regulation by 2017. More specifically, while acknowledging the fiscal restraints of the Member States, who are undertaking efforts to bring their budgets to a more sustainable level, the report expresses its disappointment that Parliament was unable to revise upwards the figures agreed by the Heads of State and Government while lamenting what it sees as inadequate progress towards a new system of own resources. Additionally, the report calls for the end of correction mechanisms (rebates) as well as the need to remove Member States’ right of veto over the MFF. For these reasons, I could not support the proposal, and voted against the report."@en1
