"The tripartite social summit (TSS) is a meeting of representatives of the social partners, the Commission and the Council. It meets on the eve of the European Council in spring and in autumn, to enable high-level discussions between the three parties on employment and social aspects of the European agenda for growth and jobs. While I acknowledge the value of dialogue at this level on issues related to the Europe 2020 Strategy which this summit can facilitate, there is a strong undercurrent seeking to strengthen the role of the social partners and this Parliament. It calls for the social partners to be involved in the European Semester process, while also calling for the relevant committee chairs to be invited to take part in the tripartite summit. For these reasons I cannot support the report, and voted against."@en1
