lpv:spoken text	"I support the agreement reached by the European Parliament and the Commission strengthening the EU transparency register for all lobbyists, first introduced in 2011. This is an important step towards greater transparency in lobbyists’ interaction with the European Parliament and the Commission. At present an estimated 75% of all commercial-related lobbyists and about 60% of NGOs operating in Brussels are signed up. These organisations should apply the new standards before they take effect in January 2015. I would also like to see the register given legal effect through binding EU legislation and, most importantly, the Council signing up to the agreement. Being able to find out who is lobbying political institutions such as the Commission, Parliament and the Council is a fundamental requirement for a truly democratic society."@en1
