lpv:spoken text	"Over the past ten years my constituency of Northern Ireland has undertaken a number of initiatives to improve the telecommunications infrastructure across the Province, with the aim of improving the quality and extending the reach of broadband services. Since 2008, over GBP[nbsp ]45 million has been poured into encouraging private sector upgrade to networks and GBP[nbsp ]21 million has been targeted at rural areas. It is now estimated that 83[nbsp ]% of premises and 80[nbsp ]% of all households across Northern Ireland are currently equipped with fixed-line super-fast services. Small businesses are at the core of my constituency’s local economy, accounting for 99.9[nbsp ]% of all businesses in Northern Ireland and providing employment for around 347[nbsp ]000 people. Therefore I welcome this report as high-quality digital infrastructure is a vital tool in enhancing economic activity and stimulating SME development in Northern Ireland and across the European Union."@en1
