Once in operation, this technology will allow for an emergency call to be generated from a crashed vehicle immediately after a road collision has occurred. Data would then be transmitted to an eCall operator. The new technology reduces emergency services’ response time, by 50% in the countryside and 60% in built-up areas. And this is estimated to save around 2[nbsp ]500 lives in the EU every year."@en1
