lpv:spoken text	"This recast directive updates the technical standards applicable to vessels operating on inland waterways in the EU. The current directive allows Member States such as the UK, which have inland waterways not linked to the waterways of other Member States, to authorise derogations from some or all of the requirements of the directive. Vessels that operate only on inland waterways within the UK are not affected by the directive. However, vessels that operate on the Community waterways of Member States in mainland Europe will be subject to the technical requirements laid down in the directive, so this directive does have an impact on UK vessels. Therefore, I abstained on the report."@en1
