This system will ensure that taxpayers’ money is no longer the first option when dealing with a bank in trouble, as it was during the financial crisis when public money was injected to rescue the European banking sector. I hope that lessons have been learnt since then and I am pleased that there is work being done to stop the excesses of banks through sound and efficient regulations."@en1
