The existing system of identification and traceability of cattle, introduced in the wake of the BSE crisis, has served us well and is a world-leading system. The proposal for the electronic identification of bovines, which will be voluntary for Member States, should lead to greater accuracy and provide improved and faster traceability of animals, as well as less administration for farmers."@en1
