"It is important that this initiative must represent good value for money for taxpayers; however, an independent study commissioned by the Department for International Development in 2011 concluded that there was not sufficient evidence to establish a direct link between development awareness-raising activities and a reduction in global poverty. Following this, the UK Government ended funding for awareness-raising activities, though it continued to fund education programmes. EU resources must be prioritised and concentrated on EU aid priorities, most visibly through programmes implemented in partner countries. This report does not fulfil these criteria."@en1
