"The current law regulating the organisers and sellers of package holidays is being updated to take account of the significant rise in online sales and to close loopholes. I supported this report as it will provide better protection for consumers and more certainty for travel businesses as to their responsibilities. Under the new proposal, consumers will find it easier to cancel a package holiday or transfer it to another person, and the rules are clearer on what consumers can expect in case of a travel business becoming insolvent. Organisers of package holidays will also be responsible for all travel services included in the package - such as flights, hotels and car hire - and in cases where the service is not as stated in the contract, the organiser will be obliged to provide assistance, and possibly make alternative arrangements."@en1
