"I supported the resolution on the European Investment Bank activities in 2012. The EIB is a key player in supporting the European economy, promoting sustainable growth and employment. Ireland’s engagement with the EIB has been greatly enhanced over the past three years and the EIB is making a very positive contribution towards Ireland’s economic recovery including by supporting much-needed developments in Dublin such as the extension of the city’s tram system, the construction and refurbishment of primary and secondary schools across the city, the extension of UCD and the construction of a new integrated campus for the Dublin Institute of Technology at Grangegorman in the north inner city. I welcome the call in this resolution urging the EIB to update its climate change strategy by the end of 2015 and recalling its commitment to end the public funding of fossil fuel projects and to shift to energy efficiency and renewable energy projects."@en1
