"In my constituency, Northern Ireland, 99% of enterprises are small or medium-sized, and it is vital that these businesses are well-equipped with the resources and opportunity to compete within public procurement. As such, in conjunction with my colleagues, the Ministers for Finance and Enterprise, I and the DUP have been working to make the system less costly, faster and more advantageous for these enterprises. As part of this, I am encouraged by the report’s focus on encouraging better electronic and online services for those applying and administering invoices. This user-friendly digital environment stands to promote greater competition, both in domestic and foreign markets, by simplifying crucial processes. However, we must of course be mindful to ensure that any common standard for e-invoicing protects personal data, respects national procedures and only requires information that is completely necessary."@en1
