"Madam President, on 10[nbsp ]February an article by Yasmin Alibhai-Brown appeared in
newspaper. The headline described certain people as ‘hideously white’, while the text included a description of them as ‘pompous, backward and white’. These derogatory descriptions associated with race would appear to be an offence under the Race Relations Act. On that basis I have written to the Metropolitan Police.

If an EU citizen outside the United Kingdom complained about the article then Mrs Alibhai-Brown could find herself the subject of a European arrest warrant issued under the category of racism and xenophobia. She could find herself locked up for a considerable amount of time on the order of an investigating magistrate while the case is looked into. I would, of course, oppose her judicial surrender under a European arrest warrant as being contrary to the principles of English law."@en1
