Progress in Sri Lanka has been slow and in many areas there is still a long path to be trod in order to establish a credible reputation for this regime against the allegations of human rights violations in the past and present. You only have to look at the work of Navi Pillay from the UN to know that there are still some outstanding issues to be resolved. Some of those questions relate to the murder of aid workers and the thousands of disappeared who have been mentioned here already. It is not just Sri Lanka of course. It is the United Nations and the international community which need to answer their own questions as to what they have been credibly able to do anything about. Unless there is pressure from within and pressure from outside, no progress will be made."@en1
