"Mr President, there is obviously a certain amount of confusion here today because, as Mr Tannock pointed out, definitive evidence may not be available but anecdotal evidence would certainly suggest that something is amiss. For that reason, it is only right that we should discuss it to bring any malpractice to an end as soon as possible. There are 10 000 organ transplants per year and 165 organ transplant centres that say that they can get matching organs within two to four weeks, whereas in the rest of the world it takes years. So I think that it is only right that we should be concerned, especially as there is no organised or effective public organ donation system in China. Given the fact that members or representatives of Falun Gong were here in the early morning giving out leaflets etc., I think it is only right that we should at least consider what they have to say and ask the Chinese to try to bring clarity to this situation once and for all."@en1
