"Mr President, over the past weeks MEPs have been bombarded with lobbying from an array of backward, anti-choice groups. A few weeks ago I received a leaflet with the headline ‘Blitzkrieg against the culture of life’. This morning I got a letter which included a baby soother and a condom, implying that the report had something to do with forcing toddlers to use contraceptives.
What is shocking is not that these reactionary right-wing groups exist, but that they won a victory today here in Parliament with a vote against reproductive rights and a vote against sex education. We saw that the majority in this Parliament still has one foot in the dark ages, including with the macho shouting down of Ms Estrela after the vote.
But let me say this to the reactionary forces here and outside Parliament. You might have won one vote today inside this Parliament, but we will mobilise on the streets and win, through mass mobilisation, the right to sex education and the right to abortion."@en1
