"The automotive sector in Wales includes 200 companies and has an annual turnover of more than GBP 3 billion. Not only do 40 international automotive companies base part of their supply chain in Wales, there are also very strong research and development links with Welsh universities, with the CETICS Centres of Excellence programme boosting Welsh competitiveness in the car industry. To support this very important part of the Welsh economy, I have voted in favour of ‘CARS 2020: Towards a strong, competitive and sustainable European car industryʼ. I encourage increased investment in advanced technologies and financing innovation, as well as active improvement of market conditions both internally and externally. I hope that this report will be part of a continued, strengthened relationship between Europe and the automotive sector."@en1
