The rapporteur’s last-minute decision to renege on the compromise that colleagues have spent months working on with him is shameful, and brings no credit upon this Parliament. The defeated amendment sought to move away from an evidence-based approach based on the specific needs of vulnerable ecosystems, by applying a general ban on trawling below a specified depth, and I accordingly could not support it."@en1
