"I voted against the oral question to the Commission – Social dimension of EMU because it is an attempt to interfere in an area in which the EU has no competence, healthcare, homelessness, work index, etc. These are all within the competence of the Member States and the UK has no intention of handing them over to Brussels. In addition the oral question refers to a European Unemployment Benefit Scheme, something much desired by European federalists that will never happen."@en1
